Introduction:

We will travel by executive coach. For nearly 400 years the Tatton Park Estate was the property of the Tatton branch of the Egerton family; it was bequeathed to the National Trust (NT) in 1958 and is now financed and maintained by Cheshire East Council. The 1,000 – acre estate comprises:  a beautiful deer park, impressive formal gardens (including a fabulous Japanese garden), a working farm and a Mansion.  So, there is plenty to see and do. The gardens, farm and Mansion are open from 10 am, 12 pm and 1 pm respectively. On arrival, we will assemble in front of the Mansion for a group photograph and then proceed to the Harness Room in the Stables restaurant for pre-ordered refreshments. We can then wander at leisure through the huge glorious Gardens, meet very special rare breed animals at the Farm and view agriculture exhibits and visit the Mansion. The licensed Stables restaurant serves a selection of hot and cold meals, including dishes containing Tatton- sourced venison. The Gardner’s Cottage provides speciality coffee, lunch and afternoon tea or you might wish to picnic – there are tables in the stable yard area and in the extensive parkland.  We will board the coach at 4.30 pm for the return journey to Melton

Note: The cost for Society and NT members is £28.50 (£35.00 for non-NT members) per person and includes coach travel, parking, gratuities, coffee/tea and biscuits on arrival, access to the Mansion, Gardens and Farm.  Spare places may be offered to non-Society members who will be charged an additional £3 to secure temporary membership.

Departure and Arrival will be from the Melton Mowbray Indoor Bowls Club or Wilton Road if requested.
