Visit to Blickling Hall (NT)

Blickling Hall is a fine, Jacobean, stately home situated to the north of Aylsham in Norfolk. Part of the Blickling Estate, the mansion hall was built on the site of King Harold’s manor house. The architect of Hatfield House, Robert Lyminge, is credited with the design of the current structure. The estate has been the property of many families, including the Boleyns. It was bequeathed to the NT by Philip Kerr, the 11th Marquess of Lothian, in 1940.

The house opens at 12 noon and restaurant, shop, park and gardens from 10.00 am. We will travel on an executive coach. On arrival, NT staff will meet and greet us. NT members should have their membership cards readily available. Following refreshments in the Stables restaurant, we will assemble in front of the house for a group photograph. Guided tours will not be possible because of the size of our group and time constraints. Guide books (£5.00) can be purchased on arrival or pre-ordered and perused on the coach.

The licensed restaurant serves (free flow) a selection of hot and cold meals, homemade cakes, snacks and sandwiches. The Buckinghamshire Arms, close-by, serves fine fare and real ales. For those who wish to picnic, there are some seats located throughout the extensive park and gardens.
