Kedleston Hall is an impressive 18th Century mansion set in historic parklands near Quarndon, Derby. The hall is approached via along drive through rolling grounds which make for an impressive entry as you approach the main buildings. In the words of the National Trust it is one of the grandest and most perfectly finished houses designed by architect Robert Adams as a ‘temple of the arts’ and the location for lavish entertainment.

The house and its interior decor are in pristine period condition – this reflected by use of the hall in the 2008 film ‘The Duchess’ starring Keira Knightly and Ralph Fiennes. The house exhibits grand furnishings and art, with numerous spacious rooms for reception and entertainment. The location has been home to the Curzon family since the 12th Century and the family still reside here. The parkland continues to roll behind the house with intriguing buildings on the landscape to investigate. Unlike other gardens of similar properties, the grounds have a natural feel, and continue to act as grazing land.

The facilities are consistent with most National Trust properties of this size, including a shop and restaurant (located in the 18th Century Kitchens) and a snack kiosk. Tea and coffee upon arrival is optional and hence not included in the price. The restaurant is able to host the entire group, but members of our group have the option to use the facilities at their own discretion. Alternatively, you may wish to bring a picnic to consume on the park estate.
