Visit to Coventry Cathedral

Coventry-Cathedral-commonspic-900x675On arrival at the drop off point, we will assemble for a group photograph before having tea or coffee and a guided tour of Coventry’s three Cathedrals: the 12th century Priory Church of St Mary, the medieval Parish Church of St Michael (elevated to cathedral status in 1918 and destroyed in 1940) and the modern Cathedral of St Michael.  We will then break for lunch.

The Cloisters Cafe, in the Cathedral’s undercroft, offers a basic range of light lunches, cakes, snacks and drinks, but you might wish to picnic in the ruins of the old Cathedral, a pleasant atmospheric area well equipped with wooden benches.  Alternatively, if you want something more substantial, there are many food outlets in the immediate area.

After lunch you are free to view a host of great, free entry, attractions in the vicinity: the Blitz Experience Museum (in the ruins); Holy Trinity Church (2 mins); St Mary’s Guild Hall (2 mins); the Herbert Art Gallery and Museum (1 min); Coventry Transport Museum (5 mins).

We will then board the coach at the drop off point and journey back to Melton at 5.00 pm.
