Visit to Charlecote Park (NT)

Charlecote Park 1Charlecote Park is a magnificent Tudor mansion standing on the banks of the River Avon. It has been the home of the Lucy family since the 13th century. Charlecote Park is approached through a long path that leads under an impressive Tudor brick gatehouse. Behind the house is a small formal garden terrace, beyond which is a large deer park landscaped by Capability Brown. Between 1828 and 1844, a Victorian wing was added and the house modernised. It has not been changed since. The east elevation retains much of the Elizabethan form. Within the great hall is a fine bay window filled with armorial stained glass bearing the arms of the Lucy family. The house interior is largely Victorian.

The Orangery Restaurant serves a range of hot and cold meals, including its speciality, venison casserole which is sourced from the estate. If you intend to eat in the restaurant, which only has 60 covers, please indicate so on the booking form so that the catering manager can make adequate provision. Alternatively, you may wish to bring a picnic to consume while relaxing on the bank of the River Avon.
