Knebworth House - open me for more info

Set in 250 acres of rolling Hertfordshire countryside, Knebworth House is one of England’s most colourful stately homes. It is remarkable for having been in the same family – the Lyttons – for more than 500 years and for its romantic exterior complete with turrets, domes and gargoyles, which conceals a red brick house dating from Tudor times. Knebworth was the home of the Victorian novelist, playwright and politician Edward Bulwer Lytton of ‘Last Days of Pompeii’ fame. Another notable family member was Robert Lytton, the Viceroy of India who proclaimed Queen Victoria Empress of India at the Great Dehli Durbar of 1877. Henry and Martha Lytton Cobbold are the 19th generation of the Lytton family to live at Knebworth.
