Built in 1870 by the Prince and Princess of Wales – later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra – Sandringham has been passed down as a private home through four generations of British monarchs and is now the country retreat of Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh. You will have access to the ground floor rooms, regularly used by the Royal Family, Sandringham Church, The Gardens and The Museum. In this, Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee Year, there will be a special exhibition in the Ballroom of the House. Although the Visitor Centre is not far from the Grounds there is normally a shuttle service to and from the House.
There is/are a self-service cafeteria and dedicated picnic areas. A restaurant serving 2 course lunches with tea or coffee for £15.95 per person is available for group dining, minimum 20 people, but must be booked and paid for in advance. Please indicate on the booking form if you would like to form a group.

DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL WILL BE FROM THE MELTON & DISTRICT INDOOR BOWLS CLUB, LEICESTER ROAD, MELTON MOWBRAY (NEAR B&Q DIY STORE). PLEASE INDICATE ON BOOKING FORM IF YOU REQUIRE PICK UP FROM WILTON ROAD CAR PARK.
Cost: £20.50 per person.
Includes coach travel, parking, gratuity for driver, and entrance tickets.
Non-Society members must pay an additional £1 to secure temporary membership of the Society.
Booking instructions: To reserve a place on the outing please return the completed booking form to the organizer with the full amount payable – cheques made out to the Melton Mowbray & District Historical Society – by 25th August. Please provide a stamp addressed envelope or an e-mail address so that receipt of your reservation may be acknowledged. Payments for reservations cancelled within 2 weeks of the outing may be partially refunded provided entrance tickets have not been purchased. Friends of the HHA will be required to produce their membership cards.
