“I would like to draw to your attention the details of a charity event that is taking place at 7.00 pm on October 1st at Noseley Hall. I’m sure some of your members will know Noseley, but for those who don’t, it’s just south of the A47, between Melton and Market Harborough. The event is a short concert in the chapel followed by a reception in the Hall. This is an opportunity to see an impressive historic building, the house itself and especially its chapel.
The 13th century chapel (Grade 1) has an austere grandeur and contains two family memorials of the Hazlerigg family who have lived there since the 15th century. These are the type of very touching memorials with tiny statues of all the children.
Bradley Johnson, who will play for about forty five minutes, is a prize-winning young guitarist, also with an interesting historical connection. He is a Yeoman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians. The Company was formed in 1500 with the purpose of ensuring the livelihood and respectability of musicians, and its Yeomen are promising young players whom it supports early in their careers.
The concert aims to raise some money for the Saints Project which supports schools in poor parts of Africa and India. The cost of a ticket is £20, which includes the music, a glass of wine or a soft drink and refreshments. My own involvement is simply that one of its trustees is a friend, and my husband is a member of the Musicians Company. I would be most grateful if you would pass on this information to your members. Tickets for the event can be obtained by phoning Mary Cowley on 01536 760807 or Wendy Steel on 07951 817234.”
